Support Gabriell George's Social Work Dream

My name is Gabriell George. I graduated from Guyanese high school and would like to pursue a degree in social work.

Growing up in Guyana, I have observed a significant need for more psychotherapist who can support both adults and children in Guyana by simply listening to them. Many people around me would have benefited significantly from having someone to talk to who wouldn't judge them for their thoughts or feelings and ensure their needs are met. Unfortunately, this isn't the reality in Guyana, and most interactions involve shooting or hurling insults, even at children. That's why, upon completing my Bachelor's in social work, I intend to pursue a career in psychotherapy.

After applying to numerous universities in America, I was accepted to CUNY University ago as an international student in the social work program. However, as expected as I am to begin my fall 2024 semester st CUNY, the $7,719.60 is daunting for me and my family. My family financial situation and the high cost of international education make it extremely difficult for us to cover these expenses without substantial assistance. Receiving financial aid is crucial for me to pursue my academic and career aspirations without significant financial strain. I am creating the GoFundMe page to support this, which will alleviate the immediate financial pressure and allow me to focus entirely on my studies and make the most of the educational opportunities.
