Hi, my name is Gabriela, and I’m fundraising to secure stable housing in San Francisco after a sudden notice to vacate my current room at the end of February.
A bit about why I’m turning to the community:
In April 2024, I made the difficult decision to leave an abusive relationship. The decision was abrupt for my safety, and it meant leaving behind the stability I had worked hard for in San Francisco - including my apartment, my job in education, and my support network.
I spent a year back in my hometown focused on healing, saving, and rebuilding my independence. This July, a full-time job opportunity opened at the same education organization in SF, and I was finally able to return to the city I love. I moved into a leased bedroom and have been working hard to rebuild my life.
On January 23rd, the master tenant I rent from informed me that they will be converting our 2-bedroom into a 3-bedroom, and that February will be my last month. While I’ve been budgeting carefully and rebuilding my savings, the sudden nature of this notice means I don’t have enough time to cover move-in costs (deposit + first month) on my own.
As someone who grew up with housing insecurity - often seeing eviction notices on our door - and whose experience of “home” has been shaped by survival, my dream is to move into a safe, stable place where I can continue rebuilding my life.
Funds will go directly toward:
• First month’s rent
• Security deposit
• Application fees / moving expenses
Every donation or share genuinely helps and means more to me than I can express. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for helping me move into the next chapter of safety and stability.
Love and mercy,
Gabriela
