Support Gabriel Patterson's Kidney Transplant Journey
Donation protected
Gabriel Patterson is a 22-year-old, vibrant, passionate, and caring young man. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he majored in political science. He is passionate about politics and making a difference in this world through that field of work. He is the son of Bryan and Dana Patterson. Bryan is a lieutenant with the Madison Police Department and Dana is a first-grade teacher at Douglass Elementary in Eden.
Last July, Gabriel went to urgent care because he thought he possibly had an ulcer. At the urgent care, they determined that his blood pressure was very high, and his creatinine level was 6 times higher than the normal level. The urgent care sent him directly to the emergency room. Gabriel spent the next 11 days in the hospital. After many tests, it was determined that 80-90% of his kidneys had scar tissue. Despite all those tests, the medical professionals were not able to determine the cause of this. The only option for Gabriel was to begin dialysis and explore the options for a transplant. He immediately started dialysis treatment. He has been enduring 11 hours of dialysis every night since.
The experts at Duke University went over the different options for a transplant for Gabriel. The Pattersons and their close family met multiple times to discuss the best option for Gabriel. Several family members and friends were tested to see if they would be a match to be a live donor. It was finally confirmed that Bryan, Gabriel’s father, was a match. Together, the family decided that Bryan would be Gabriel’s living donor. What an amazing gift! God is so good!
The transplant surgery is scheduled for June. There will not only be the medical cost associated with this, but Dana will need a lot of assistance as she will be taking care of Gabriel, Bryan, and their two other beautiful children, Chloe, and Lincoln. Bryan and Gabriel will be out of work for several months while they are healing. We would like to raise funds to assist with travel costs, meals, along with the mountains of medical bills. We want to assist with taking the financial burden off this family so they can focus on healing!
To know the Patterson family is to love them. They are a blessing to everyone they encounter! They have given so much to their friends and community over the years and now we want to give back to them!
If you find it in your heart to donate to this deserving family, please know that it is appreciated more than you can ever know! We understand that some might not have the ability to donate. All we ask is for you to keep this dear family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate these life-changing surgeries and the days to follow.
Thank you and God bless!
