Support Gabriel Matias' Fight his Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello My name is MATIAS

On November 24th, 2024, My Son Gabriel Matias (39) drove himself to the closest emergency room to his house, which was a pediatric unit. Unable to breathe and with chest pains, a few minutes after his arrival, he collapsed in the waiting room without proper resources to help him. He went into his first cardiac respiratory arrest. He had three cardiac arrests. Doctors and nurses worked on him for one hour and twenty minutes to stabilize him from ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation), which means the heart has resumed beating on its own after a period of cardiac arrest; it can also be called the "Lazarus phenomenon" due to its association with coming back from the brink of death. We had no idea how this was going to completely change his life, nor the whole family.

My brother Gabriel's lungs completely shut down, leading his heart to stop due to a lung infection that causes inflammation and fluid buildup in the air sacs of the lungs. He was in the last, worst stages of pneumonia, which he thought was just a flu, trying to treat with over-the-counter medication and treating the breathing with inhaled steam and a humidifier. Gabriel is a father of three beautiful little girls, 6, 3, and 1 year old, and he is the only provider for his wife and family. At the moment, our family came together to give all the help and support he needed. My parents dropped everything to help, leaving their jobs and life for their son. The next day, they hopped on an airplane to be with him and his family. My brother went into a coma right after the cardiac arrest he had, right after into very intensive care, medications, dialysis. His body suffered such trauma, we didn't know how neurologically stable he would be, or if the time he didn't have oxygen running through his brain would have a drastic effect on him until he woke, but we never lost our faith. After 45 days, weeks intubated, days with a tracheostomy, dialysis after dialysis for kidneys not to fail, lots of heart and blood pressure intensive care, lots of love, faith, and care from our family and friends, he got discharged. We couldn't believe how grateful we are for his life and to have him back. Two weeks ago, he was reunited with his wife and daughters.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP !!!!!

His road to recovery is far from ending. He still has to come back for dialysis, medications, physical therapy to learn how to control his motor skills again, neurologist visits, and heart medication that he will need for the rest of his life. All this is paid out of pocket. Our family has done everything we can to help, but it's truly been an emotional rollercoaster trying to pull all strings together to help pay for all his treatment and recovery. He does not have health benefits to cover.

The emotional and financial strain on this family is overwhelming. Between maintaining the household, diapers, formula, food, bills, hospital bills, rounds of heart medication, rehabilitation costs, and lost income, the financial burden is far greater than they can handle alone.

Me and my family are asking for your kindness and generosity to help Gabriel and his wife and daughters during this difficult time. Your contributions will go directly towards:

Covering Gabriel's medical expenses and rehabilitation treatments, doctor's appointments, dialysis, heart medications that he needs until he is stable and fully on a lifetime medication, and physical therapy. Supporting his family due to no income at all, diapers, food, formula, transportation, bills, etc., for my parents as they care for Gabriel full-time, helping him around, doing the simplest things that he now has to re-educate himself all over again.

Helping ease the financial strain so the family can focus on his healing.
Our family saw day by day the struggles he had coming in and out of a coma and ups and downs. Gabriel is a fighter, and with your support, he can make it through this long and challenging road to recovery. Please consider making a donation, no matter how small, to help this wonderful family, my family.

If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing with your friends, family, and community would mean the world to them.

Together, we can lighten their burden and help Gabriel and his family in this difficult time.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support!!!
