Support Our Beloved DJ Gabriel Melomano and His Son — Victims of Gun Violence

Dear Salsa Family and Friends,

Susan and I are reaching out on behalf of someone who has given so much of himself to our community: our beloved salsa DJ, Melomano, a father, a friend, and the heartbeat of our dance floor.

Many of you know him as the person behind the music — the one who brings the perfect song at just the right moment, who turns a rough day into joy with a single beat, and who always shows up with a smile, no matter what he's going through. What you may not know is that this incredible man is now facing an unimaginable hardship.

Recently, and through no fault of his own, Gabriels’s son was a victim of sensless gun violence. Though he survived, his road to recovery is long, painful, and filled with uncertainty. As a father, Gabriel is doing everything in his power to care for his son, support his healing, and manage the overwhelming emotional and financial toll that this tragedy has brought into their lives.

Now, it’s our turn to give back.

We’re raising funds to help with medical bills, therapy, recovery expenses, and to offer a cushion for this family while they navigate the difficult days ahead. We want Gabriel to be able to focus on his son without the burden of financial stress — and we know that our salsa family can help make that happen.

Gabriel has brought light, rhythm, and joy into our lives for years. He has lifted our spirits in hard times — now let’s rally to lift his.

Queridos amigos y familia salsera,

Hoy les escribo en nombre de alguien que ha dado tanto de sí mismo a nuestra comunidad: nuestro querido DJ de salsa, Melomano, un padre, un amigo y el latido de nuestra pista de baile.

Muchos lo conocen como el maestro detrás de la música — ese que pone la canción perfecta en el momento justo, el que convierte un día difícil en alegría con solo un ritmo, y quien siempre llega con una sonrisa, sin importar lo que esté enfrentando. Pero lo que quizás no saben es que este hombre increíble está pasando por una dificultad inimaginable.

Recientemente, y sin culpa alguna, el hijo de Gabriel fue víctima de un acto sin sentido de violencia armada. Aunque sobrevivió, el camino hacia su recuperación será largo, doloroso y lleno de incertidumbre. Como padre, Gabriel está haciendo todo lo posible para cuidar a su hijo, apoyar su sanación y afrontar el inmenso peso emocional y financiero que esta tragedia ha traído a sus vidas.

Ahora, es nuestro turno de devolverle todo lo que nos ha dado.

Estamos recaudando fondos para ayudar con las facturas médicas, la terapia, los gastos de recuperación y para ofrecer un respiro económico a su familia mientras atraviesan los días difíciles que vienen. Queremos que Gabriel pueda enfocarse en su hijo sin la carga del estrés financiero — y sabemos que nuestra comunidad salsera puede lograrlo.

Gabriel ha traído luz, ritmo y alegría a nuestras vidas durante años. Ha levantado nuestro espíritu en tiempos difíciles — ahora es momento de que nos unamos para levantar el suyo.
