Support Gabby's Summer Opera Training in Europe

Dear friends and family, I'm writing to let you know about the exciting opportunity that I have been given. I've been accepted to participate in two programs this summer: The Franco American Vocal Academy (FAVA) and Austrian American Mozart Academy (AAMA).

FAVA takes place in Angers, France from June 2nd until July 7th, and AAMA takes place in Salzburg, Austria from July 7th until August 11th. Both of these programs are run through the Williams Lewis School of Opera, which is associated with the University of Texas at Austin. This program will allow me to work with nationally and internationally recognized faculty including Margaret Jumonville, Hubert Weller, Dr. John A. McGuire, Sandra Moon, with masterclasses from Frédérique Added, Isabelle Cals, Manfred Mayrhofer, and coaching from Janice Fehlauer, Dario Martin, Mia Elezovic, and others.

For FAVA, I have been rewarded the role of Leœna in Offenbach’s La Belle Hélène, and for AAMA, I will be performing the role of Madame Herz in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor.

In addition to the operas, I will be studying French art songs and German lieder, respectively, and will be participating in French and German language classes for the duration of my stay in France and Austria. I will also have the opportunity to perform in recitals with prepared art songs and arias. I will be taking lessons, coaching sessions, and masterclasses with the above faculty that will enhance my musicianship and my technique.

All of these studies are to aid my pursuit of a graduate degree in vocal performance, which I will be applying for in the fall. Programs like these are meant to help young artists build their skills and make connections with people they might study or work with in the future.

The overall cost of these two five-week long programs comes out to around $10,000, which does not include the cost of transportation to and around Europe or food expenses. To help defray some of the expenses, I am asking for your financial support in this endeavor. The goal price is marked as $5,000, but any contribution would be sincerely appreciated.
