Hello! I am Gabby Allmond and I am a pre-med student studying health science and public health at Idaho State University. I am so excited to announce that I was recently accepted into the Shadow Abroad program for the Summer of 2027. This amazing opportunity will allow me to travel to 3 countries in Latin America to shadow doctors, learn and apply Spanish in a medical and social context, and volunteer within communities for 9 weeks! I will get to experience a new culture and perspective of global healthcare systems.

The cost of attending this program is roughly $13,000. I will also need to save enough money to travel out of the United States and back, get a passport, food, living expenses, transportation, etc.

I hope to someday become not only a physician, but a community leader focused on bridging the gap in healthcare disparities amongst marginalized communities. The United States has the 2nd largest Spanish speaking population, behind Mexico. By learning Spanish and applying it to my future career, I can help create an environment where more people feel welcome and comfortable seeking care. I believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare and to feel safe and understood.
