Support Gabby's Fight Against Colon Cancer

Hi everyone, my name is Jennifer Remkus and I have created this Go Fund Me to help my best friend Jennifer Mayo’s daughter Gabby with her Colon Cancer fight.

Gabby is 25 years old and is Jennifer’s youngest daughter. This all started a little over a year ago when they discovered she had what is called a Desmoid tumor in Gabby’s chest wall. The tumor, while benign would have to be removed because it would continue to grow. Unfortunately it was too large for them to safely remove it and they put her on a fairly new medication to shrink it to a size to safely remove.

This medication has made Gabby feel like “doo doo” (yes we deal in dark humor to get by) for the past year and while it is shrinking it is not safe to remove yet.

In the past months Gabby has become quite anemic paired with gastrointestinal issues. This prompted her doctor to order a colonoscopy. They found that Gabby has Familial Adenomatous Polyposis or FAP. This condition causes thousands of polyps to form in the colon that will eventually turn to cancer. Unfortunately Gabby is at that stage. And we are unsure at the moment how far it may have spread. We know for sure of a node that has been found on her stomach and she has many more test to be run. Treatment for FAP is complete removal of Gabby’s entire Colon. This means that she will have an Ostomy bag for the rest of her life.

We are unsure as of now just how much treatment after surgery she will need, and this is a big and scary hill for Gabby and her family to climb. Despite all this Gabby recently completed Cosmetology school and had just started her job at her first salon when she received this life changing news. She has bare bones insurance (what she could afford) but this financial burden is too much for a 25 year old. So I am raising money to help with her medical cost and the time she will need to recover.

I know I am not the only one who this family has helped through a tough time. I own Jen and Chad so much for what all they have suffered through with me in the past few years. Never in my wildest dreams did I think they would be facing Cancer again less than 2 years after they help Aaron and I through his. And the pain of watching your Child have to fight Cancer is indescribable.
