Hi loved souls,

On July 19th, 2025, under the false pretense of a job interview, I was assaulted and raped by a man in Minneapolis. I was mislead that the vocation would be supporting individuals in our local community impacted by substance dependency’s, specifically fentanyl. The assault left me with lasting injuries to my spine and hip that now make it hard to move, work, or take care of myself in the ways I’ve always done on my own.

Since filing a report, I’ve reached out to every resource I was given through state officials, but I’ve received no real support or even updates. Calls go unanswered, and I’ve been left without financial, medical, or emotional care through those systems. Previously working in Ramsey County, this is not a shock to me as a lot of system practices do not center nor support survivors of rape. As an abolitionist, and someone who doesn’t look to the state for healing, I am leaning on my community- the people I believe in and fight alongside to uplift while I recover.

I’ve been self-supporting since I was 18. Being 22 now, I live in a small studio in Minneapolis with my two cats, while keeping up with rent, car payments, and ongoing medical appointments. Without insurance everything combined comes to about $3,500 a month, which I can’t meet on my own while injured and still applying for work.
I am currently asking for two months of support while I move forward, incredibly grateful for any support.

If you’re able to donate, share this, or connect me with resources, it would mean so much. Every bit of support creates space for me to heal and rebuild. Every survivor deserves the support to be surrounded with genuine love and healing.

No one deserves to process and heal through violence alone, including myself. Being an advocate in many ways, this moment is also part of my retribution — to speak up against social violence (especially rape) which is so heavily normalized and rarely brought into public conversation because it is seen as “too heavy, too uncomfortable.” But violence is not “too heavy” for the collective to face, just as it is not “too heavy” for me to heal from.

Thank you for standing with me and holding me in this time, we are stronger together always.
We keep each other safe.

Gabby
