I’m Mari, I’m Gabriella “Gabby” Alvizo’s mommy, this account is created to help with expenses while we’re waiting on her health to improve with current and planned procedures. Which may take weeks.

On May 1st Gabby started vomiting everything she ate and drank. After DRH sent her home with basically nothing done I noticed her health wasn’t improving so I took her to Uvalde ER. They said she had a UTI but after they saw her vomiting after eating and sounding like she was in pain they transferred her to Children’s Methodist by ambulance at 3am Sunday May 4th. By late afternoon Children’s Methodist told us Gabby had an abstracted bowl, free fluid in her abdomen and looked to be a mass behind her pancreas so she was being transferred to Christus Santa Rosa to be seen by a GI Specialist. After transfer she had a MRI and the looked at her CT scans and didn’t really know the issue besides that her stomach was growing fast. On May 6th she went in for a simple procedure to check for the issue with a small camera but the surgeon and Doctors called us mid-procedure to get our approval for them to go ahead and cut her tummy open and drain some of the fluid. Which ended up saving her life because her breathing prior was already to fast because the fluid inside was adding pressure to her lungs. After surgery we got a NVL Line in her neck that goes directly to her heart, an NG Tube to her stomach, a drain from her gallbladder, another from her duodenum and one from her lower left abdomen. She hasn’t had food in days and most likely won’t for the next couple weeks. Turns out she had a hole in her Duodenum which can cause death. Had I not been persistent that something was wrong I wouldn’t have my baby today. Always trust your mom gut. She’s still undergoing procedures to better her and the hole remains open until it minimizes on its own or they have to go back in and close it. After all this and she’s better she will then have therapy but we have confidence in Gabbys strength that she will not need much of that. I want to thank you all and still ask for prayers more than anything. This is the beginning of her battle but we’re here with her daily and I know that helps her recovery as well.
