Who are we?

This is George Cantu, a 4th-Year Radio-Television-Film/Plan II double major at The University of Texas at Austin. He believes in art as a form of healing and a platform for change. Through various forms of storytelling, he aims to bring some of that transformative, positive change to the world. <3.

This is Allura Denim, the Producer of Gabby. She is a third-year Radio-Television- Film major at the University of Texas at Austin. Apart from Gabby, she has worked as an Event Planner for Ignite Texas, Editor for a short Documentary HENRY, Producer for two East Austin Documentaries, Media Director at John Knox Ranch, and is currently interning at Austin Film Festival as a Development Intern. Allura's mission as a creator is to specialize in documentary-inspired storytelling, dedicated to creating films that highlight the experiences of marginalized individuals and communities.

Logline

Gabby is a film that follows his immigrant mother’s disapproval, an ambitious teenager must decide whether or not to follow through with his first play.

Where are your donations going?

To bring this film to its fullest potential, we require access to a theater. We are currently in the process of selecting a location that best captures the atmosphere of the story in the most authentic way. Creating a realistic setting that enhances the film’s narrative impact involves costs related to securing permits and making necessary adjustments

Our film thrives on the incredible talent and dedication of our actors. By compensating our cast fairly, we aim to honor the hard work and emotional depth they bring to their roles, ensuring their contributions are recognized and supported

Ensuring that our cast and crew are properly fed is essential to the success of any production, and we are committed to making that a priority. These funds would cover meals and snacks throughout the filming process.

Our short film features a full glamorous makeup look, requiring a skilled artist with the necessary products to bring that vision to life. In addition, we are managing various props and materials related to our characters theater performance. These funds will be used to support all components involved in creating these essential elements.

Many things can go wrong during a production, so we want to ensure we're prepared to cover any unexpected costs that may arise during filming.

Gabby tells a heartfelt story through the eyes of a young boy who faces emotional challenges with his mother as he expresses himself in ways such as wearing makeup and painting his nails. It’s a powerful exploration of identity, acceptance, and the courage it takes to be true to yourself.
