Jungle Johanna here advocating one of my Pilates students and someone I’ve grown close to the last few months. I know how difficult it is to ask for help and after several persists, she decided to send me a letter explaining her situation. Health truly as well in a matter how much money we have or how good we look on the outside if we are not healthy, we will never truly be free. I have definitely gone through hardships in my life and I wouldn’t say that things I’ve always come easy for me however, one thing I’ve always been blessed with is physical health. I’ve seen how crippling it is in others to not be able to maintain their lifestyle due to disease and illness that is uncontrollable. Below I share Gabbie‘s story and I ask you to help in whatever capacity you can. Gabbie is a true light and then a few short months of me knowing her she’s been there for me in ways my own family has not.
For years, I've been battling chronic pain caused by uterine fibroids and pituitary tumors. These conditions have significantly impacted my ability to work and enjoy life to the fullest.
On September 23rd, I'm undergoing an abdominal myomectomy, a major surgical procedure to remove four cantaloupe sized fibroids and have full uterine reconstruction. This is a crucial step in my journey to finding relief from the pain I've been enduring. In this case, my abdominal myomectomy requires a longer recovery and carries some additional risks compared to minimally invasive approaches, but it's the most suitable option for my specific case due to the massive size, number of fibroids and location of them. During the 6 hour procedure, my surgeon will make a C-section incision in my lower abdomen.
Unfortunately, recovery from this surgery will require me to have around the clock care for a month, or possibly longer for full recovery. The financial strain of losing income during this time will be immense. Any contribution, big or small, would mean the world to me and help me focus on healing without the added stress of financial worries.
