Help G Get Back On Her Feet After Being Fired Without Cause

Updates will be posted at the bottom.

Hi all,

my name is Glynis and I was recently fired without cause from my job of over 4 years. I am not legally allowed to discuss any of it unless it is with a lawyer or a spouse, but I have neither.

I live on my own in a small one bedroom. basement apartment with my two small dogs, Mork & Minty. I am on my own for everything that costs money.

I am an ODSP recipient but haven’t received money from them in years because of the income I had at my old place of employment.

Being on my own has never allowed me to build any kind of savings or cushion to fall back on, I’ve always had to live paycheque to paycheque (embarrassing, I know).

This was a completely unexpected occurrence that I had zero time to plan for.

Unfortunately I do not have parents or family that are in any position to help me. There is no room for me to move in with any family to help cut my costs.

In a couple of months I may start receiving funds from ODSP again - but the amount I receive monthly won’t even come close to covering half the cost of my living expenses.

I’ve spent my entire adult career helping others. I was a PSW for a decade before I tried to take my own life.

My doctor told me I could no longer do the PSW work because of my mental health, I tried to figure out a way I could still help people with less of a strain on my mind and body.

I started volunteering at the food bank while I was ordered to be off of work and continued with my passion of helping others. This turned into a wonderful paying job for me that I held PROUDLY for over 4 years.

I suffer from SEVERE anxiety and depression which is why I am an ODSP recipient (multiple stays in a mental hospital and attempts at taking my own life, my wish is to stay as far away as I can from those places and those feelings for the rest of my life). I have come a long way. There was a time in my life where I was agoraphobic and could not even get out my front door to stand outside.

I am constantly working with my doctor to get the right meds and diagnoses to help me lead as normal a life that I can.
We are currently in the process of switching my meds which has made this event so much more traumatic and difficult to deal with.

Losing my job at the food bank has left me in a very desperate position. I do not normally like to reach out and ask others for help, I take pride in being the one to help others… at this point I am desperate and I don’t see many other options.

I am hoping to raise enough money to help me cover the cost of rent ($1800 per month) and my other bills while I get back on my feet.

I am currently looking for a new job as well as looking into the options I have for returning to school.

All funds donated will be used to directly pay bills/rent and to care and provide for my dogs while I am looking for work.

I’m hoping to raise enough money to cover myself for approximately 4 months. I am hoping in this short amount of time that I will have either secured new employment or will have returned to school to further my education.

ALL funds left over will be donated to a local charity who helps others in need. (I am taking suggestions as to which charity could benefit the most but I am leaning towards esprit place for women)

ANY amount helps, and I am so grateful you took the time to read this. If you cannot afford to help me, even sharing this page would be so so helpful. I no longer have Facebook so I don’t have access to much social media to spread the word.

if you are able to donate to my cause, I am forever grateful and hope one day to do something for you in return.

I don’t know if this platform was the best choice to put myself out there, and I’m really not expecting much of a response, but if you took the time to even read my story, thank you.

”Kindness is helping the world, one person at a time.”

thank you,
G
