Assalamu'alaikum,

It saddens me to share that 2 year old Dusty was diagnosed with heart disease late last year after the vet caught a loud heart murmur during his check up.

His report is below, but from what we understand and have been told, he has a cardiovascular congenital defect (hole is in his heart) and another issue relating to right ventricular hypertrophy.

Dusty is going to require the help of cardiology specialists from the Royal Veterinary College of London and we have been quoted an estimate of £1150 for a consultation and heart scan from their end. This will allow them to see if anything further can be done for his heart disease, whether it be surgery or medication to possibly extend and make his life easier for him (email from GVG attached with other photos at the top as proof of request).*

If Dusty is not sent to the RVC for further investigations and treatment, he is at extremely high risk of going into heart failure in the very near future. They cannot estimate how long he will have left to live if nothing is done.

It has been a difficult time for us after finding out his condition as he is my grandma's first companion after the passing of her husband last year (may Allah grant him paradise, ameen). So, Dusty is family, family that we do not want to lose to heart failure without at least trying to find a way to help him.

The people asked, “O Messenger of Allah, is there a reward for us in serving (the) animals?”

The Prophet SAW replied,

"Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate (being)".
