FRYE is not only returning in 2026, but returning to our Girls Rock Flint roots by setting up shop back at our OG venue, Factory Two! Although coming home is exciting, we've still got bills to pay. For the last several summers, grassroots support and corporate sponsors from the Greater Flint community have sustained us. We are once again asking for your help to create safe, memorable experience for 30 Flint area kids.
But, what even is FRYE?
Flint Rocks Youth Empowerment (formerly Girls Rock Flint) is an educational nonprofit performing arts program designed specifically for inclusivity and empowerment. Every summer, we run a free 5-day music camp for Flint area kids ages 10 to 16. Established in 2018, FRYE participants explore various musical instruments, form bands, design their logos, write original songs, & perform them at week’s end at Factory Two's brand new onsite stage! No experience necessary. All gear, meals, & supplies provided. Plus, the kids get daily top notch instruction from real working musicians, artists, and writers connected to Flint, all at no cost to them.
But that’s not all!
Every day, guest speakers from the community come in to share new experiences & inspire the kids to believe in their very highest potential. Thanks to our hosts at Factory Two, the kids will get to use the community makerspace to create their own merch! Stickers, buttons, t-shirts!
But FRYE is so much more than a music camp. It brings kids across every spectrum together & emphasizes living authentically & empathetically, creating confidence & community that extend beyond a single week in July. FRYE doesn’t just teach the kids to love music, it teaches them to love themselves.
Thank you so much for your continued support of this incredible program! Please share & donate here or reach out to program coordinator, Julie Hugunin, for sponsorship opportunities!
