Back in 2020, as the US was shutting down, Frosty came into my life thru Lifeline Animal Shelter in Georgia. She quickly went from being a dog that I adopted to help with my mental health to being my best friend, a “mamas baby”, and a favorite of every kid and dog lover who took the time to stop and say hello. Additionally, Frosty has made lots of friends on Instagram and I’ve “met” some of the nicest people who share my love of dogs.

Fast forward to January of this year (2026). Frosty was out playing when I noticed her limping. What started as a vet visit for an injured dew claw quickly turned into a more serious matter.

During her physical exam, the vet noticed a hard mass in Frosty’s abdominal area. The vet became very concerned and immediately asked to do bloodwork and X-rays. While Frosty’s bloodwork showed an infection (UTI), there was nothing to explain the mass. Upon viewing the X-rays and comparing them to Frosty’s images from a year prior, the mass is large. To the point where it is pushing Frosty’s internal organs to one side. However, due to the dense nature, the vet couldn’t determine where the mass was originating. I was told that a $600 ultrasound would be the only way to clearly see what’s going on. And that surgery would 100% be needed (a $1000+ procedure). The word “cancer” was brought up as a possibility. Not to scare, but to inform and prepare me for what may be happening.

Unfortunately, Frosty has had many ongoing health issues during that past couple of years including a case of large bladder stones which were surgically removed. The yearly costs of extra vet visits and specialty food has made it so that I no longer have “emergency funds” on hand for Frosty. I personally live with health problems that limit what I’m able to do. However, I’ve always tried my best to make sure she’s been taken care of. It makes me sad to see her in pain and know that any discomfort or changes that I notice means she’s hidden much more (pitties are famous for hiding and ignoring pain).

Currently, Frosty is urinating blood which could be a sign of more bladder stones, an infection, or it could be linked to the mass. Frosty’s personality has changed as well. She doesn’t seem to enjoy life as much as she used to. And she sleeps much more and drinks a lot less (Frosty received IV fluids in January as well).

The amazing dog community has asked that I set up this fundraiser in order to give anyone interested in helping monetarily an easy way to do so. I am overwhelmed at the kindness that’s been shown to myself and Frosty. Please know that 100% of the funds will go towards Frosty’s vet bills and care (imaging, surgery, bloodwork, medication, aftercare, etc). The first of the funds will be used to get Frosty an ultrasound and vet visit ASAP in order to get a clear plan of action. If the $600 is met, GoFundMe will automatically extend it up to a certain point. This will allow me to focus on Frosty and hopefully help ease a bit of stress and worry.

Thank you for your kindness and thank you for loving Frosty.
