As you all know, Frosty is more than a pet. He's my familiar, Noah's little brother, and the provider of our family's emotional support. He has been with us for almost 10 years and was vital my recovery when I was going through cancer treatment.
For the second time this year, we had to rush him to the emergency vet for a complete urinary blockage. This is deadly in cats within 24-48 hours. He doesn't appear to have crystals and it's likely from a combination of factors (stress, being overweight, inflammation, and anatomical structure). Because this is happening so frequently, the veterinarian is recommending PU surgery to open his urethra to lessen the chances of him not blocking again.
To complicate matters, Frosty has a heart condition that makes all these repeated catheterizations more dangerous. Every time he's sedated we run the risk of him not waking up.
This current hospitalization has cost over $5,000 and the surgery will add at least another $2-3k.
As most of you are also aware, I haven't been able to find a FT job. I know a lot of people are in a similar situation, but it just complicates things even more because I'm barely making ends meet as it is.
I would greatly appreciate any help you're able to give for Frosty to get this surgery and hopefully live another 5-10 years with us without pain and suffering from this condition.
Thank you so much. Please feel free to share with any animal lovers you know who would be able and want to help us out.
