Hi! I'm the Londrekia player that goes by Friend. Some of you may know that a bit over a year ago, I was run over by a car. It was terrifying regaining consciousness underneath it, but I'm forever appreciative that - beyond all odds - I'm still here walking, talking, and labbing everyone's least favorite Under Night character <3

That being said, making it out alive did not mean making it out okay. When I was ambulanced to the ER and told I needed emergency surgery, I had no idea what my quality of life would be like. While I am beyond blessed for my elbow taking most of the impact over my skull (and trust me, my doctors never stop reminding me how lucky I am), things are not ideal. A year of physical therapy and operations doesn't change the fact that my dominant right arm will never be what it was again. The pain and nerve issues will never fully recover. But currently, my issues reach beyond physical health and into the realm of legal and healthcare issues here in the United States.

While my case was being resolved, I was straddled with medical bills. While New York is a no-fault state, their insurance's doctor deemed that they no longer had to cover my orthopedic appointments. Since my injury was "related to an accident," my insurance also did not have to cover my appointments. The hospital did not inform me that I wasn't being covered and didn't afford me the opportunity to seek arbitration or care in another establishment. I am now left owing nearly $3.5k in medical bills I was not supposed to owe for the appointments and tests that happened before the case closed.

I've tried to handle this myself, but incident after incident - from being robbed to finding out I need another operation on my arm - I think I truly am just overwhelmed. While many have asked if they could send me help, I've always felt resistant to taking money when offered. After talking with other players, we reached a middle ground: if I was able to put on an event or afford people an experience, it'd make me far more comfortable.

This is still a very difficult and vulnerable thing for me to ask, but if I didn't have wonderful friends that pushed me to make this happen, I never would have gone through with it.
