Hercules’ story is heartbreaking, but with your help, it can have a hopeful new chapter.

We don’t know much about his past, including his real name, but here’s what we do know. His owner left him in someone else’s care. Tragically, during that time, Hercules became entangled in a rope. According to the ER veterinarian, he was stuck for weeks. Both of his back legs were affected, one so severely injured that it will require significant medical treatment, while the other had already begun to heal by the time he was found.

When police became involved, the person watching him admitted they did not want to take responsibility for Hercules’ injuries or care. The original owner also said they did not want him back. That’s how Hercules came to us at FMAR (Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue).

Despite everything he has endured, Hercules might be the gentlest soul we’ve ever met. He is calm, sweet, and endlessly loving, a true gentle giant. He leaned into every human he met at FMAR today, grateful for kindness after so much neglect.
