Friends of Kootenay Lake Urgently Needs Your Help!
Kootenay Lake is a breathtakingly beautiful and highly productive ecosystem. It supports
abundant fish, wildlife, and forests, while its creeks and clean water are essential for all the
residential communities and businesses around its shores.
Since 2012, we been working with local communities, including the First Nations, on whose
unceded territory we live, work and play, to protect and improve the lake’s health and
stewardship through:
* monitoring wildlife, water quality, fish stocks and spawning
* restoration of wetlands
* beach clean-ups
* education and information programs, especially for our children and lake visitors
* volunteer training and programs
* resources for landowners
* capacity building and the empowerment of local communities
Now we urgently need your help.
If you would like to donate a membership on behalf of a loved one this holiday season, or for an upcoming birthday, you can do so here! We have a holiday certificate and a generic certificate available to cover all of your giving needs.
After over a decade of successful research, projects and volunteer work, we are unable to make ends meet without your help. Grant disappointments have left us without the funds to meet our bills. Without donor support we will not be able to keep our wonderful staff, nor complete important local projects like the current Harrop Wetland restoration. And we won’t be able continue our long-running data collection projects, such as Osprey monitoring. It is vital to keep alive the data sets that are indicators of the lake’s health and the viability of our local
ecosystems.
We are looking for the money to allow us to continue working through this fall. Only with your help can we continue to talk with local communities and sponsors to develop valuable and exciting programs for 2024.
Can you help us?
Please give generously now.
