We never thought we would be starting a GoFundMe, but our Guatemalan (now in Seattle) kitty, Frida, is very sick. In the morning of 4/20, I found her standing in her water bowl. She was then uninterested in food (extremely out of character) and didn't growl at the other cats. We immediately took her to the emergency vet.

Frida became less responsive on the drive. We learned that she had sepsis and something going on with her intestines. Frida underwent emergency surgery, and it was discovered that her intestine had ruptured. There was necrotic material, and 10 cm of intestine was removed. We are likely looking at a tumor or an abscess from an old injury. Pathology came back inconclusive.

Frida is a fighter and is putting up the good fight. She is not out of the woods yet and requires more care. We are currently at $14k for her emergency surgery and sepsis care. This is an incredibly large, unexpected expense.

Frida is now home recuperating. She is a special cat. She is an amazing hunter and regularly took down scorpions in Guatemala. She is a cuddler and also has a little bit of spicy calico energy.
