Support Freya's Journey from the Streets to a Safe Home

Tax deductible
Hey everyone! My name is Bryan Lowe. I’m an elementary school teacher from NJ. During the summer, I travel with my family to Guatemala to help build a home for a family in need. This year when we were on the job site we
absolutely fell in LOVE with a small black street dog we named Freya. Watch her story here or keep reading. Freya’s Story
Over the course of the week she would greet us with squeals of excitement and cuddle with us whenever we sat down. On the last day she jumped into our work truck and I was devastated that we’d have to leave her behind. Her fate is all but certain if she is not rescued. As you can tell from the photo she is extremely malnourished. Freya is a 6-12 month old dog who won’t really have a chance on the street because of her sweetness. The other dogs bully her and it’s apparent by the bites in her ear and her small frame that they probably win any fight for scraps of food from the local families. I looked into adopting her and learned that dogs cannot be brought to the US. Many emails later, I contacted a wonderful organization that takes care of animals in the area and finds them homes. They agreed to take her but it is not without a few obstacles. Aaron, the owner of Perros Libres, has graciously accepted to take her in but has to travel very far across the country to pick her up. I leave the country tomorrow and she is being taken care of by the family we helped for the next week, but they can’t afford to care for her beyond that. Funds are needed for a transport to get to the shelter and have her spayed. From looking at her she may need some medical treatments (for fleas and worms). The goal is $5,000 because I want to generously reward the organization for picking her up over four hours away from their location and taking a chance on this abandoned dog. If you could see the tail wags when I put a collar on her and the look in her eyes when she seemed to realize she was rescued, you’d be the one writing this entry! The money would help dogs just like her that don’t have the opportunity to have some out of place Gringo like me fall in love with them. There are so many homeless dogs in Guatemala, but this one is so special and I was hoping she could be a dog that, through your kind donations, could be an inspiration to help so many others. I like to believe I live in a world where one good deed could turn another, but as a teacher I already struggle financially and simply can’t afford to pay all costs to rescue this sweet pup. Thanks for taking the time to read. Every little bit helps!
