The lineup for the 2026 edition of Frequency Festival has been announced , and while tickets are now on sale, the costs of producing the event exceed what sales will generate. This year we have multiple international artists, and it's no secret that air travel isn't getting cheaper, nor are hotel accommodations. So we're asking our supporters to chip in with whatever they can afford. It might sound like a cliché, but every little bit helps.
We're very proud of this year's lineup, which includes the first Chicago performance from the acclaimed European quartet أحمد [Ahmed]. The group's stellar pianist made his US debut at last year's edition of Frequency Festival, with an unforgettable duo set with turntablist Mariam Rezaei. The Norwegian guitarist Fredrik Rasten also makes his US debut, performing solo, and also appearing with the great Scottish folksinger Alasdair Roberts. It's the US debut of the duo, and the first time Roberts has played in the US since 2013. We will also present the US debut of Tristan Perich's stunning Open Symmetry, a 50-minute work for 3 vibraphones and 20-channel 1-bit electronics—performed by the all-star percussion trio of Douglas Perkins, Ian Antonio, and Xin Yi Chong. Olso-based percussionist Jennifer Torrence will perform work by Chicago composers Kari Watson and Kelley Sheehan. The festival is also delighted to welcome back Rage Thormbones, Olivia Block, ~Nois Quartet and Ensemble Dal Niente, all playing new work. The festival will conclude with New York's TAK Ensemble performing an unusual multi-media work by Weston Olencki and the beloved Chicago clarinetist Zachary Good will give the world premiere of his recent Lake Heritage with fellow clarinetist Ian McEdwards
Please consider giving so we can keep Frequency Festival successfully introducing a kaleidoscopic range of contemporary classical and experimental music to Chicago listeners.
