Hello again! I'm running a summer school program for the 5th year! This year, our budget has been cut like everything else in education. I'm not sure that we will have any field trips or even shirts. That's why we need support for this program. It is focused on reading at HB Lee Middle School in Northeast Portland. This program is called Freedom School and is based on building a love of reading and community. I have been running this program for 4 years, and this is my fifth. My former students come back and represent our community as the teachers of this program. They are the role models for my current students. It has been an amazing 4 years, and I look forward to the 5th.

OSD states we cannot buy any prizes over $10. In the past, we have had PlayStation 5s, Nintendo Switches, laptops, karaoke machines, basketballs, footballs, volleyball sets, and all kinds of great incentives for our kids to work and earn points for. Because I cannot buy anything over $10, I am asking my friends and community to help me fund these prizes for my hard-working students. Last year, my people really came through! I included a picture of our prize window. Each day, our kids read and break down text, they build community and earn points. These prizes are a fundamental building block of our program. They help me get something fun, and they're not regular school. Please support my program and my students.
