Support Fred's Battle Against Cancer

Hello all, my name is Cy Corbin and my siblings and I are asking for financial aid for our father, Fred, while he undergoes medical treatment for cancer.

Our Dad is many different things to many different people. He's a devoted husband to his wife, Tina, of 36 years, a loving father to 10 children, and a doting Pawpaw to 3 grandchildren. Our Dad has been a coach, not only for his children in life, but has also coached our sports teams, and odds are if you’re reading this, either you or your children were coached by him too. Our Dad is our rock, the family jokester, a listening ear, a problem solver, a shoulder to lean on, and a helping hand. I say all this to say, our Dad means so much to not only us, but to everyone who has ever had the chance to meet him and we would love the chance to be able to show up for him as much as he has shown up for each and every one of us.

On Easter Sunday, our Dad was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the skin - a type of skin cancer that affects the middle layer of epidermis and in turn has caused a large tumor to develop on the inside of his cheek. This tumor has invaded his jawbone and a nearby lymph node. Due to its nature, the tumor will require an extensive 12 hour surgery to remove and will require a piece of his jaw bone to be replaced with a graft from his leg. Because of this our Dad will not only require a lengthy recovery period, but will also have to undergo radiation to ensure that any remnants of cancer is gone at a microscopic level.

What our family is asking for, is assistance to ensure that our Dad can focus solely on his road to recovery and remission. With our Dad’s profession as a caregiver to two adults with disabilities he is the primary source of income for his 5 children who still remain at home and his wife. Our siblings and Mom rely on the income he brings in, especially while our Mom, who is a paraprofessional, is out of work until the new school year starts. With our Dad needing to travel to and from Gainesville for doctors' appointments, his upcoming surgery, at least 10 day recovery period, and future radiation appointments he will be missing out on work for possibly several weeks. Any donations received will go directly towards any medical bills that insurance does not cover, travel expenses to and from Gainesville, and any household bills while he is recovering and out of work.
