My name is Frederick and I was born with Sickle Cell Disease type SS. I’ve lived with this chronic condition for 44 years now. If you know anything about this disease you can experience painful crises at any given moment. When they happen hospitalization is often required and it can last from hours to a couple days. I’ve been told at an early age that my lifespan would be shorter than others. This discouraged me a lot. I couldn’t fly on airplanes for long trips, play sports, or persue some of my lifelong dreams ( become an airplane pilot and have a big family.
Well the reason I’m trying to raise money is because I have just found out that I have a sibling match and can have a stem cell transplant to get rid of this disease. There are some risk of doing this transplant but the reward is much more worth it.
I work to provide for my family but if I’m hospitalized as planned for 100 days I will need help to pay for basic needs and a caregiver. I have faith that things work out and this is just a piece of my story. If you can help me that would be completely appreciated and if not I totally understand.
Well here’s an update: caregivers are expensive and I should have done more research before I put any goals out there. The cost of living is high and there are very limited resources available for help. The best thing going is word of mouth so if you’re reading this now and really want to help please share.
Thanks in advance
