Meet Frapp, a sweet one-year-old dog whose life began with more hardship than any animal should ever have to endure.
In January, a concerned neighbor contacted animal control after noticing a neglected dog living in a backyard. When officers arrived, they found Frapp suffering from an untreated broken hip and a large growth protruding from his neck. Despite the pain he must have been in, Frapp greeted everyone with a gentle spirit that immediately captured the hearts of the staff and volunteers at BARCS.
From the moment he arrived at the shelter, Frapp's journey toward healing began. He received urgent medical care, including the amputation of his injured rear leg and surgery to remove the growth from his neck. He then spent four weeks on strict crate rest, learning how to navigate the world as a three-legged dog. Through it all, Frapp remained incredibly resilient, meeting each challenge with courage and an unwavering trust in the people helping him.
After two months in a loving foster home, Frapp finally found what every shelter dog dreams of: a family of his own. It seemed like his happy ending had arrived.
But just before he was scheduled to go home, Frapp began showing signs of weakness in his remaining back leg. Further evaluation revealed a torn ligament. While a minor tear might not require surgery for a four-legged dog, Frapp's unique circumstances meant that a TPLO surgery was necessary to ensure he could live a comfortable, pain-free life.
Thankfully, Frapp's new family never hesitated. Even knowing the challenges and expenses ahead, they remained committed to him. They chose love. They chose Frapp. They promised to help him heal and to give him the life he has always deserved.
Today, Frapp is thriving in his forever home. He has become best friends with his senior dog brother and finally has the cat sister he's always wanted. He is surrounded by love, safety, and the family he waited so long to find.
Frapp's TPLO surgery is scheduled for June 26. BARCS has generously offered to cover 50% of the procedure, but his adoptive family is still facing a significant financial burden. We're hoping to help ease that burden so they can focus on what matters most: helping Frapp recover and continue living the happy, active life he's fought so hard for.
We understand that times are difficult for many people, and we are deeply grateful for any support, no matter the amount. If you're unable to donate, sharing Frapp's story is another meaningful way to help.
Thank you for taking the time to read about this incredible dog. Frapp has overcome so much already, and with your help, his future can be as bright as he deserves.
