Support Fran's Recovery After Vicious Dog Attack

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Meghan and I am not the person to ever ask for help, but today changed my mind. I am raising money for my mom, Fran. My mother is a mom to 3 and is the world’s best nana to 7 grandkids!
She is a sweet and spicy lady but the most spirited person you will ever meet. She is a massive Texas Longhorns and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. You will find her in the fall at work dressed from head to toe in Burnt Orange and white with Longhorns painted nails on Saturdays and Steelers shirts on Sunday. We have attended Texas playoff games the last two years and we so excited to root on our Longhorns in the swamp this year. Luckily, due to current events we are pretty excited we have yet to buy our tickets because we are unsure what going to the game will look like this year.

My mother, picked up a shift at work today and it was to be the delivery driver. Little did she know it would change her whole life. She had a delivery to one of our neighbors’ houses. We know she went up to knock on the door, and a dog came out from the backyard and viciously attacked her leg, knocking her over. Almost immediately, one of the other dogs joined in, got her on the arm, and then got a hold of her ponytail and started to drag her. The homeowner was able to get the second dog off of her but couldn’t do anything with the first dog.

Luckily, my dad was across the street, heard the commotion, ran over, and was able to hit the dog to get it off of my mom’s leg, but not before they caused immense trauma.

My mother was taken via ambulance to the hospital, had to undergo blood transfusions, and a five-hour-long surgery to secure her wounds and close her up. She has a long recovery process ahead of her, but we are so thankful for the medical staff who was able to get her taken care of. They told her there were a few times that they were worried that she would not survive due to blood loss.

She is a server by nature and does rely on daily cash flow to get by and keep her bills paid. We are asking for any support you are willing to offer to help her get through until she is quite literally back on her feet.

Also, please note that we have been in contact with animal services and are trying to work with them to get these dangerous animals off the streets of our neighborhood. Just seeing how much damage they were able to do to our mom, I cannot imagine what these could’ve done to the children of the neighborhood had it been them instead. As of right now, it seems as though the homeowners will have a chance to get their vicious animals back. I will keep everybody informed and updated if we have any further information to add, and I thank you in advance for helping if you can, even if it’s sharing, references for anyone who might be able to assist with this animal control issue, or just prayers.

Update:

My mother is recovering and is still in the ICU. Someone was truly looking over her. She has zero damage to any bones. They were able to close the wounds and didn’t have to have any drainage pumps at this point. It’s just severe pain. She has been able to get up and hobble around her room with assistance of a walker. She cannot put any pressure on the injured leg and the injured arm being on the same side poses some challenges as well, but she is a fighter and she’s trying to get back on her feet as soon as possible and she keeps telling us how much she can’t wait to go back to work.

We are so grateful for the support and love showed by her coworkers, boss, and her regular customers. They do have a donation bin up at Sunrise Café in Ormond Beach, which is where she is a server five days a week. Her boss and coworker have also been calling checking up and even brought her some pick me ups to the hospital.

We are asking for your continued prayers and shares, and any assistance you may be able to provide whether it be monetarily or advice on how to move forward.

Thank you!
