Hello everyone, first off, thank you for taking the time to read this. It’s very much appreciated. Frank, my wonderful husband of 25 years, recently had a stroke at the age of 45. It was one of the scariest moments in our lives. His stroke was due to not taking his blood pressure medicine regularly, drinking energy drinks, smoking, stress at work, and eating fried foods. Looking back, it seems obvious, but at the time, we were just living our everyday lives. Frank was always strong and healthy, with only the occasional headache. The week before and the week of the stroke, he was having severe headaches, but we thought it was just from his busy schedule and stress. We had no idea what was coming.

Everything was normal until it wasn’t. On March 4th, Frank called to say he wasn’t feeling right—his leg and arm felt funny. Our daughter and I told him to come home if he didn’t feel well, but Frank, being stubborn, said he’d wait until lunch. When he got home, I saw him struggling to walk, his right leg buckling under him. I rushed out to help, but he insisted he was fine, even as he struggled to make it to the bedroom. I knew something was wrong and took him to the hospital. By the time we arrived, it was too late for the medication that could have reversed the stroke. Frank couldn’t walk, and the right side of his body was numb. The doctors said recovery could take months or even years, but Frank is determined to regain his mobility, and we are all committed to helping him get there.
