I’ve always been someone who takes pride in handling life’s challenges head-on; but recently, several "perfect storms" have converged at once. I moved to Florida five years ago to care for an aging relative with Alzheimer’s, and soon after, Hurricane Ian made landfall. The storm left me with unexpected repairs and high-interest debt, which I’ve been working hard to pay off ever since.
While still on the road to financial recovery from Ian, I was diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis and prostate cancer. Preparing for treatment became my top priority, but the path grew steeper when I was unexpectedly laid off from my job, losing my primary income. Now, I’m facing medical out-of-pocket expenses for required surgeries, insurance premiums, and basic living costs, all while trying to stay afloat.
I’m swallowing my pride and reaching out to the GoFundMe community for help. Every donation, no matter the size, will go toward easing the financial burden in eliminating debt from Hurricane Ian, covering medical expenses and insurance premiums during treatment, and maintaining basic living expenses. Every donation — no matter the size — or even simply sharing this page — brings me one step closer to my goal and getting back on my feet.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
