Franklin is a 3-year-old Golden Retriever and he is the absolute sweetest, most gentle dog I have ever met. He loves chasing balls, playing tug-of-war, swimming, stuffed animals, and, of course, snuggles.
On October 28 at approximately 6:50 pm, Franklin ran off from home. He had never run off before, and we looked all over for him all night. After finally being reunited, with the help of the Butte Community both on and off of Facebook, it was apparent that he had been hurt. I assumed a car hit him, so I immediately took him to Highlands Veterinary Hospital to get checked out. After emergency hospitalization, ultrasounds, X-rays, lots of fluids, and medication, they informed me that he most likely did get hit by a car. He has blood in his right lung, severe bruising on his right side, as well as the inside of his back left leg being cut up. (Pictures included) His leg is currently infected, which has caused the need for more medication and vet calls.
Just for him to be seen when this all happened was $850, and by the end of the hospitalization, it was up to $1200. He has needed pain medication on top of that, and now due to his leg being infected, it has become even more. Franklin has a check-up in a couple of weeks where they will re-examine him to see if he is healing properly. They will need to do more X-rays, which is another $230 on top of the visit and whatever else they might need to do.
I love Franklin so much, but I am really struggling financially trying to keep up with his vet bills. I am asking for any possible help and I appreciate everyone’s kindness and support during this time.
