Support Frankie in Her Battle Against Cancer

I can't believe I have to write this. We found out Thursday but have been processing it all and trying to get our minds wrapped around it. You may remember my pug Bella (a 9 year old fawn pug). She was diagnosed with MCT a year ago. She had 5 operable and 1 inoperable (we chose to do the Stelfonta injection). She did beautifully and she is a year cancer free. We had been very excited to post on this year anniversary when we noticed her mom, Frankie (a 13 yr old brindle pug) had lost some energy and had a lump come up on her side. Off to the vet we went, we were floored when he found 4 lumps that he wanted to biopsy. All four came back MCT. We were devastated. We know the routine, set her up for ultrasound to check to see if cancer is spread to her organs, do blood work to make sure she is well enough for surgery, and then if all comes back ok, have the four MCTs removed. I know we know the process, we know how this will go but it does not make this any easier or any less traumatic. I came here because I know I can count on this community to be there for us every step of the way. I am appreciate all prayers and positive vibes.

For those that do not know Frankie and Bella's story. I had just had my 3 year old rescue black pug Perry die during routine teeth cleaning and I got the call that the mother/daughter bonded pair needed to be rehomed because the family was splitting up. I wasn't sure I wanted to get another pug much less 2 pugs three weeks after Perry's death. But my husband was insistent that we get them. We drove 18 hours from TX to TN in a single weekend to bring them home. That was 4 years ago. Frankie immediately bonded to my husband and they have been inseparable. She is his emotional support dog (he battles PTSD from childhood trauma and depression). He has battled alcoholism and we to 2 month inpatient rehab (sober a year now). These girls have brought so much joy into our lives in 4 short years. I know they can beat this cancer and live out their golden years with us.

Prayers and good vibes please. Ultrasound and blood work results coming in a couple weeks.
