Frank Medrano, a US Navy veteran in his retired years, and his wife Maria have had their lives turned upside down. In the early morning hours of November 17th, just one day after Frank’s 78th birthday, a convicted felon in a stolen car with no drivers license or insurance crashed into the master bedroom of their house. Both Frank and Maria were severely injured. Frank suffered a broken spine, a fractured humerus, and chest injuries that caused severe lung damage, leaving him dependent on a ventilator for weeks. The trauma and pain have required heavy medication, which has affected his memory and decision-making. Maria, who is not fluent in English, also sustained serious back injuries. She will be unable to work for some time and relies on Frank for managing their household affairs.
The accident left their home uninhabitable, with extensive repairs needed, including electrical work that is not fully covered by insurance. While Frank is receiving care in a long-term ICU, Maria is trying to recover and manage daily life without the support she’s counted on. The family is now facing mounting expenses: car payments, medical bills not covered by the VA, living costs while their home is repaired, and even unexpected costs like cell phone repairs. These expenses are piling up quickly, making it difficult to keep up with everything.
We are reaching out to our community for help. Prayers are especially needed and felt during this time. Any amount you can contribute will make a difference for Frank and Maria as they work toward recovery and rebuilding their lives. Your support, especially during the holiday season, means more than words can express. Thank you for keeping them in your thoughts and for any help you can provide.
