We are humbly reaching out to ask for support for our family as we navigate an incredibly difficult time. Our world turned upside down September 16, 2024, my husband, Francisco Verni, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Thymic Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. He had completed 6 rounds of chemo with successful shrinkage and underwent open heart surgery May 1, 2025 to remove what was left of the tumor. We truly thought he had beat this. On May 16, 2025 we went to L.A. for his follow up appointment. We got the news that his cancer was now or had always been Small Cell Carcinoma. They sent him to the emergency room, to find out it had spread to his brain, and all throughout his body. He completed a second round of chemotherapy and brain radiation in August 2025. The chemotherapy did nothing to his disease and has now progressed more. He has been in and out of the hospital, facing not only his diagnosis but also additional complications that have made this journey even harder. Despite his doctors' tireless efforts, the road ahead is uncertain and filled with challenges we never expected.
Francisco is my rock, and he is also the most devoted father to our beautiful 3-year-old son, Mateo, who brings so much light into our lives. It breaks my heart to see Francisco battling so hard, not just for himself, but for our family. While we remain hopeful, the medical bills and daily expenses are starting to weigh heavily on us, and we are reaching a point where we need help from our community.
