I am reaching out for your help in supporting my host family in Chile, the Bernal family, who have been a second family to me since I stayed with them in 2018. Their daughter, Francisca—my (host) sister—has been battling a mysterious and debilitating medical condition since birth. It’s affected her physical, mental, and cognitive abilities and well-being, and she’s spent her the majority of her life receiving medical care and special education services. Despite countless tests and treatments, doctors still haven’t been able to find a cure. Francisca has now been in and out of the hospital for many years (in more than out). Her family is and has been facing a heartbreaking reality: in Chile, insurance doesn’t come close to covering the cost of the care she needs. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a world of difference for Francisca and my host family as they continue to fight for her health. All donations will be sent directly to them in Chile.
