Update:
March 11
Francis and I got to cuddle our Scottie girl through the night. We took turns doing skin to skin, praying with her, singing with her, and letting her know how loved she is.
Our girl was so so so strong that she held on and fought for almost 24 hours. The time that we had with her was so precious and memories we will hold on to.
The amazing nursing staff had made so many memory things for her we were able to read her the memory book, look at pictures, and tell her about her amazing care she received.
Her Auntie Kristin wrote her a beautiful song we were able to play for her in her final hour and it brought us to tears because it was perfect for our girls.
Her papa held her in his arms for her final breath and as she took it we let our sweet baby know that it was okay to go and be with the Lord. That we would miss her more than words can describe but that she will be in peace with those who love her in heaven. We let her know that her Tutu Siggi is waiting to be the first person to hear her sweet voice and her Tutu Blanche is waiting to bring her to her welcome party in heaven.
Our perfect girl entered this world on March 2, 2025 at 1:36 am and she left this world March 11th at 4:52 pm.
Original message from Lindi and Francis:
Hi Family and Friends, we have started this site to have updates on our sweet Frances girl for everyone. Unfortunately Lindi had to have an emergency C- section at 38 weeks for severe fetal distress, Baby Frances was delivered and sent down to Children's Hospital in Seattle. Her name is Frances Scott Hokulani Ku’u Lei Aloha Blanche Key and she is beautiful, but she has severe brain damage and is on life support. We don't expect that she will make it as she has severe diffuse brain damage. She was born with severe anemia due to a fetal-maternal transfusion, a complication that occurs when babies fetal blood is shunted into the maternal circulation. This is not a condition that can be detected, or tested for. We are, just now, letting our extended family and friends know. We are heart broken as the pregnancy was normal and she was growing and developing normally until it was discovered that she was in distress on Saturday March 1st. This severe form of fetal-maternal transfusion is very rare and occurs in 1:1000 to 1:5000 births. We have had overwhelming support from our family, church family and friends and we have felt all the prayers. She is on life support now and her prognosis is very poor due to the severe organ and brain damage. We got her MRI of the brain back on Thursday after having her on cryotherapy to cool her body temperature down to limit organ damage. Unfortunately she has extensive brain damage in all portions of the brain. We do covet your prayers and support during this, most difficult time. Thank you, Lindi and Francis.
