We are in need of assistance with the cost of vehicle repairs. Last week our van overheated on a trip and had to be taken back for repairs. At minimum, it needs a new radiator, water pump, and timing belt. It will need a few other minor parts replaced down the road as well, but the estimated cost for the immediate repairs is $1742 with tax. I've attached a photo of the itemized expenses.
To briefly summarize our situation, Fr. Ari had a significant pay cut at his secular job last fall. He has not found a better job and does not take a salary from the mission. Since that time, I had a medical scare that required multiple diagnostic tests. Thankfully, I was cleared but now have extra medical bills. Our roof also sprang a leak and is in need of replacement, which will take a miracle. We have exhausted our savings trying to make ends meet the past 10 months and simply don't have the means for these vehicle repairs.
Fr. Ari commutes 80 miles to work and works rotating shifts. His car is over 20 years old, shakes with more than one passenger, and is just hanging on. I need to be able to pick up our oldest daughter an hour away at college for church on weekends, take our son to his dual enrollment classes at the community college, and also be available to help my mother, who lives 25 minutes away, and take her to appointments. Having a reliable family vehicle is a necessity. We would not ask if it wasn't.
