Hello. My name is SuZanne Gillespie and I'm asking for your help for a dear friend of mine. Here is her story....
Frances “FP” is someone who has spent her life standing at the intersection of science, service, and compassion. A dedicated suicidologist and criminologist, FP has devoted her career to understanding human behavior, preventing violence, and saving lives. She has worked tirelessly to support vulnerable communities, advocate for mental health awareness, and bring evidence-based solutions to some of society’s most complex challenges.
Now, FP is facing the fight of her own life.
In late 2023, while she and her husband were living overseas in South Korea, FP was diagnosed with uterine cancer. What began as concerning symptoms quickly escalated into a life-altering medical crisis. Surgeons performed a colon resection and a total hysterectomy to remove a massive 17-pound tumor. The surgery was extensive and recovery was long, but FP faced it with the same resilience and courage she has always shown in her professional life.
Following surgery, she endured months of treatments and scans. Eventually, she was given the hopeful news of remission. However, genetic testing revealed she carries Lynch Syndrome, a hereditary condition that significantly increases cancer risk and requires lifelong, vigilant monitoring.
Recently, devastating news arrived: cancer cell growth and new tumors have been discovered along her jaw, vagus nerve, and up her spine. She is now awaiting biopsy results to determine surgical margins so doctors can move forward with removing these tumors.
Additional scans and testing are underway to identify any further spread before she begins another round of chemotherapy to prevent continued growth.
The physical and emotional toll has been immense—but FP remains determined. She and her husband continue to face each appointment, each procedure, and each unknown with strength and faith.
Unfortunately, while they are grateful for medical coverage, insurance does not cover everything. The costs of specialized care, medications, advanced imaging, travel, ongoing treatments, time off work, and supportive therapies add up quickly.
Through it all, FP and her husband hold tightly to hope—not only for recovery, but for the future they still dream of building together. Before her diagnosis, they had planned to start a family. Though cancer has changed their path, it has not changed their hearts. They remain committed to becoming parents through adoption once FP’s health stabilizes.
FP has spent her life helping others survive their darkest moments. Now, she needs a community to help carry her through hers.
Your support will help cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, ongoing treatments, travel for specialized care, and future family-building efforts. Most importantly, it will allow FP and her husband to focus on what matters most: healing, hope, and the life they are still determined to build together.
Thank you for standing beside them in this fight.
Thanks for your generous donation, every penny adds up.
With Love and Light,
