Support Laura & Cody while they fight for Fox
Donation protected
Laura and Cody Napier are no strangers to chaos and life changing moments, but this was not one that anyone saw coming, isn’t that how it goes though? Below is Laura, Cody and Fox’s battle and journey through the unknown! Please pray, share and if you are able donate to them to help with living costs, medical needs, lost wages, and possibly life altering needs for Fox going forward. The unknown is scary… but we all have faith, God has a plan, and we are FOX STRONG!!!!!
Hi! My name is Amanda and I have known Laura since elementary school. As we grew up and went separate ways, for some reason God brought us back together!!! I am creating this fund for her and Cody and their family, as they face what no parent should ever need to face.
This family needs prayers, they need support, we need to come together for this sweet, amazing family and provide when they are not able too. Between hotels, back and forth Lincoln to Omaha, lost wages, and let’s not even begin with medical bills. Anything you can give would be most appreciated. It takes a village and I know Laura and Cody appreciate the village!
I will try to explain the situation the best that I can, and I will provide updates as I have them. I am mainly using Laura’s exact words from her FB updates below:
on Wednesday August 21, 2024, Fox went in for his normal 15 months appointment and vaccinations, throughout the day and later in the evening he was having seizures and away to the hospital they went. This was the first update from mom:
Fox is in the hospital tonight. He had an extreme reaction to a routine immunization he had at his 15 month check up this morning. He had episodes of seizing/spasming, and then drooling and extreme lethargy and his oxygen was around 60. He is stable now. His chest x-ray is good. Please pray for our sweet boy.
A few hours later, he was being life flighted from Lincoln Nebraska to Children’s in Omaha.
He had an EEG of his brain and they scheduled an MRI.
Fast forward a couple days, awaiting MRI results, and mini seizures added… the results showed:
“Herpes simplex virus meningoencephalitis (HSV ME) is a severe viral infection that affects the brain and surrounding tissues.
It is caused primarily by HSV type 1 (HSV-1) virus. This condition requires prompt recognition and treatment due to its potential for significant morbidity and mortality.”
Foxy has viral meningitis.
(HSV ME)
I found out around 7 pm
I don’t have any other words right now.
I took the words above from the Internet, to explain briefly.
There is too much more information and so much unknown yet, and I’m tired.
I haven’t slept yet since I woke up this morning, but I needed to post an update.
We’ve got a long fight ahead of us,
but we will fight!!
My birthday gift was finding out about this and being here so that Foxy can have a chance to live and recover hopefully.
Gotta have Hope!
Oh… and Fox HELD this bottle for at least a minute today.
His left arm isn’t able to move normal or well at all, because of the swelling and fluid on the right side of his brain. But he held that bottle for at least a minute with his right hand and that’s awesome because Foxy was left-handed prior to Tuesday.

Later that day:
Vaccine injured?!? Why is my thriving baby boy, fighting for his life mere hours after receiving a vaccine?!? I’m going to need an answer for that please. Foxy WAS strong before he was vaccinated. I’m going to advocate for my baby Fox like the mama bear you know and love! ✌ Mama will help you get strong again sweetie. *he was left handed Tuesday morning when he was actually able to use his left arm and hand to scoop up his favorite scrabbled eggs … which he did eagerly did shortly, before his morning 15 month doctor appointment and his doses of liquid we call “vaccines”. #foxstrong #advocate

a few hours ago and after a long talk with doctors, they have a plan, but Foxy has a long way to go… update from mama:
Have you ever had a lumbar puncture? It’s painful.
My son has virus filled fluid in his brain and most likely … as if only things that are likely actually happen… circulating throughout his entire bloodstream.
He hurts a lot.
I’m not sure what it feels like, as I’ve never had a virus in my brain.
But I’ve been advocating for days now to get him something stronger than Tylenol and ibuprofen and I am proud to report that my son has finally been gifted some Toradol for his pain.
