UPDATE:Forrest is feeling all those prayers hard at work! Scans from the last two days have come back better than we could have ever hoped for, as swelling has come down and we could get clearer images and tests done we are less worried about vision loss. Thankfully now that swelling is better we can see that the work plastics did to stitch his eye back together was a great job as he is even able to open it some which they originally did not think he would do for some time.

Forrest was put into a back brace which has made breathing so much easier! He had a rough day with physical therapy but he managed to exceed expectations and not only was able to stand from the bed but managed to walk about the room. The problem with that is that Forrest is hardheaded and decided to take it upon himself to continue getting up and down from the bed and walking around the room once physical therapy left. So his pain levels increased but Melissa tattled to the nurse so they adjusted his meds again. Now we just can’t let his ADHD take over and let him over do it.

As of now the plan is to wait on Forrest’s eye surgery to re-attach the muscle that was cut and to do that in an outpatient office with a private specialist. His back is going to require physical therapy as well as occupational therapy to get him back up and running. Forrest has amazed the doctors and us each day with his progress and because of that he is going to try life at home which is HUGE! This family will no longer have 150 miles splitting them or their farm apart.

Forrest has many doctor appointments and so much work ahead of him so please continue to pray for his recovery and that he can stay positive on this journey! Thank you so much to those who have reached out, fed Melissa and Landon, helped with the house or animals and even with shipping sandpaper and polishing supply orders! It’s a hard time financially for many of us but if you are in a position to donate this family has many things adding up and could use all the help they can get. Thank you again for supporting Forrest and his family!

On Saturday afternoon my sister, Melissa Dey received a heart stopping call, her husband Forrest, had been in a dirt bike accident and needed to get to the hospital. When she met him at the ER, the hospital staff didn't initially realize the severity of his injuries. Things quickly changed and the Trama department had to be called. Multiple CT scans, and ultrasounds to determine he needed to be airlifted to another hospital 3hrs away with specialists that could better handle his injuries. A nurse informed Melissa, had he not been riding with a neck brace, he wouldn't still be with us today.
Forrest is currently stable, and in great hands. Everyday that goes by his prognosis improves as swelling decreases and his body calms. There is still a lot unknown. Doctors, despite further scans, are unsure if Forrest will ever regain vision in his right eye, even dispite the possibility of surgery. They are also still trying to determin treatment for the multiple fractures in his spine, surgery is unknown, but a long physical therapy road is in the future to get him walking. Which is why we are calling on community to come together for the Dey family.
Forrest is one of the kindest people I have ever met. Incredibly loving, forgiving and loyal. He is always willing to lend anyone a hand, whether it's a flat tire on the side of the road, a prayer, or help to build a chicken coop, he's there. Forrest is hard working, dedicated to supporting his wife and son with his own business, SC Polishing Systems LLC, that he started and has built from the ground these last two years. All while Melissa has been working not only on homeschooling their son, but building their farm in hopes of Daisy Couch Farms becoming self sustainable, and teaching others.
Many have asked how they can help, if you can please donate, if you can't please consider sharing this in hopes we help relieve some pressure. Forrest needs time to heal without stress, and Melissa needs to be there to assist him while caring for their son and farm.
Thank you!
