Hi, I’m Andrea Young, and I’m reaching out to you to support Forever Protected Equine. We finally have property to house horses in Indiana. Right now the horses in the program are located in Northern California. The cost to house horses in Indiana are much, much lower and that will allow us to save more horses. What we need now are funds to build a barn and fences to keep the horses comfortable and safe in their new retirement home. As of now there are 6 horses in the program. if we can get a barn and fences put up, we can save at least six more. Please help us reach our goal. Below is a picture of the property.
Here is our mission:
FPE IS DEVOTED to ensuring that working horses avoid mistreatment and neglect as they age by contributing to their retirement accounts during their working years.
The Issue:
After a productive working life that can stretch for as long as 25 years (often with several owners), horses can live for another five or more years.
Unfortunately, the fate of working horses who are too old or injured to work can be bleak. Even the most winning, talented, and beautiful show horse can end up in an auction pen and sold to slaughter.
There is not enough awareness, advocacy or consideration for horses’ future protection and housing as they age out of their working lives.
The Solution:
Secure horses’ protection by establishing individual equine retirement accounts. A portion of funds the horse earn while still working will be saved and used to meet the horses’ living needs when old or infirm. FPE is working with a growing network of qualified farm, stable and pasture resources "as well as our own" that will ensure a comfortable retirement home is available for all FPE horses. With this method, FPE will never run out of space for the horses in the program.
