I’m an old friend and classmate of Amanda (Vrbka) and Jason Scheffler. I’m setting this fundraiser up because they will be going through a lot with this tough situation and the bills will be mounting and they’ll be missing work. They’re just like a lot of us and such a big awful emergency isn’t ever expected! I

For anyone who hadn't heard or seen yet, Zander was in a bad car accident overnight. Helicopter brought him to UNMC, Jason, Tink, and I met him down here. He was intubated and sedated most of the day. He was just extubated and is still loopy from the meds, but he's eating some ice chips and taking sips of water. He got his ruptured spleen removed when he got here, pins in his lower left leg this afternoon, a damaged artery repaired, and lots of lacerations and bruises, but most importantly he's ALIVE!! We've got a great care team here. I'll try to keep everyone updated as things progress. Thank you everyone who's called, texted, snapped, and messaged each of us throughout the day, it's helped keep our sanity. Thank you also to all of our amazing coworkers for allowing us to be here with him. We're lucky and grateful to be surrounded by so much love

Update from Saturday: First and foremost, THANK YOU everyone for all of your continued love and support!!

Update: Today has definitely been a better day than yesterday was. He slept most of the day, but when he was awake, he was his usual smartass self- which is a GREAT sign. They discovered a few more fractured bones that will have to heal on their own over time. They also found some broken bones in his hand that will have to be surgically repaired but want to give the rest of him some time to heal before doing that. It's looking like he'll be moving from the ICU to a step-down unit either tonight or tomorrow, whenever a bed becomes available. All in all we're heading in the right direction.
