Support for Zachary's Recovery

Never could we have imagined that after countless doctor visits, blood tests, allergy tests, x-rays, prescribed medication, alternative medicine, and diet changes that we would be where we are today.  Yes, we wanted answers, but a brain tumor!

There was not much time to process the diagnosis given on that Thursday afternoon (3 weeks ago) after just having an MRI done that morning.  Even though Regina was told that it was not an immediate emergency she was instructed to get Zachary to Presbyterian Hospital where a room was waiting for him in Pediatric ICU and by Saturday morning he was in surgery for 12 long hours.  As mentioned before, there was no time to process the diagnosis let alone the solution and the recovery afterward.  No time to think about it, no time to prepare, he was in for the fight of his life at the young age of 16 and all there was really time for was prayer and lots of it.

For those of you who have been following closely on Facebook, have been texting, calling, and dropping by the hospital knows that Zachary is doing well.  No it has not been easy and yes, there have been a few setbacks along the way, but he is doing very well and making progress everyday.  Anyone who actually knows Zachary knows that he will get through this and will be stronger for it on many levels.

For anyone who may not know him personally but know one of his family members or maybe one of his friends, Zachary is one to leave quite an impression on people.  His light shines so very bright, some might even say that he lights up the room when he walks in.  He is very friendly, very approachable, and not afraid to introduce himself and make new friends.  When family gets together for any occasion he is sure to talk to each and every person there, sharing a warm conversation and a good laugh.  He is so easy-going and has a great sense of humor; we all have our "Zachary" story.

He has a heart of gold and tends to worry about everyone else; he is a genuinely kind, sensitive, and loving young man.  Just hours before surgery he was optimistic and trying to console and comfort everyone who was there to show him love and support, while at the same time, very carefully and quietly trying not to show us all how truly terrified he was.  Zachary is precious and treasured by so many.  We knew of his symptoms and what he was suffering with, but he never showed it.  There may have been times when he felt like giving up and maybe even struggled with his faith, but he pushed forward and stayed strong.  The only ones who knew or know his struggles and pain are God and his Mama, she has been right beside him throughout this whole ordeal and so has God.  We are a strong family founded on faith and believe that our Lord has his healing hands on Zachary and will see him through all of this.  God's love is constant, unwavering, and enduring.

With all that said, this campaign is being set up for Zachary and his family.  It took some convincing, as it can be difficult sometimes to accept help from others and some have already come forward and have been so generous.  We never anticipated how this would all unfold and how extensive Zachary's recovery would be and his journey is still not over.  Funds would be greatly appreciated to cover daily and family expenses and possible medical costs that may not be covered by insurance.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have been so loving and supportive from the moment this all started.  Your prayers, texts, calls, social media messages/posts, and visits at the hospital are very much appreciated and comforting.  Also a heartfelt THANK YOU to Regina's employer for being so supportive and understanding as a lot of time has been missed from work.

Prayer warriors please don't stop!  Prayers are being answered everyday, we are witness to that and we are grateful for your steadfastness.  We include you all in our prayers, thanking God for the amazing family and friends that he has blessed us with, we can't tell you enough how much we LOVE and appreciate you.

We also thank God for the Nurses, Doctors, Surgeons, and Staff at Presbyterian Hospital that are in Zachary's constant care.  The level of professionalism and care has been outstanding, they are truly a blessing and we are eternally grateful for their dedication.
