support for your local hair stylist single twin toddler mom

as most of you know I’m a single parent to 2.5 year old twins. for the first 2 years of my kids life I was a full time stay at home parent. while I’m grateful to have been able to do that in many ways, it also meant putting my own work and skills and interests on hold. Since last summer I have slowly but surely been getting back into doing hair, but it’s still very challenging to figure out scheduling and having the availability to work enough while still not having solid childcare. I am still with the twins many long days alone since transitioning to my own apartment separate from their other parent at the beginning of the year, at which time my bills more than doubled.

asking for help in this way is very difficult for me but I unfortunately reached the end of my rope awhile ago. keeping myself just barely afloat for this long has also completely and utterly drained me (and all of my $) to the point that it’s getting harder to show up for the things that I do have control over, or to think clearly about what the next steps need to be as the acute stressors around $ keep piling up. entering month 7 of intense transitions and challenges has taken its toll. I was also alone most of my pregnancy and first year of their lives in Philly and didn’t have a real baby shower so! Belated baby shower!

The cold hard cash facts! my car is really a big to-do as I need to register it to Maine (STILL have PA plates after a year and a half), and also get it inspected here & it will probably need a few things to pass. I very much need new tires immediately which will be $500 this weekend. The inspection and registration will be at least another couple hundred dollars.

I also have about $500 in other bills I’m behind on! Yay! And rent of course! I do have a very sweet 18 year old living with me who helps me a bit with some bills and occasional childcare.

I’m setting 3k as an amount that would help me get my car in order, pay off old bills, and put some towards rent in a way that would give me breathing room for a month or so while we try to figure out getting the kids into actual daycare part time asap.

I really want to be able to show up for my community in more ways than I am able to right now, and have many ideas for things I would like to offer or facilitate, but my cup is so empty I am having a hard time showing up for my kids and especially myself right now.

Your support in any way is so truly appreciated, I know times are more than tough in so many ways, and I still operate with so many privileges in this world. If you would like to remain publicly anonymous but let me know about any donation, I would love to be able to thank you in an appropriate way personally. thanks for reading all this if you did!
