Every parent’s worst nightmare is something happening to their children. We would do anything to make them feel better and even trade places with them in a heartbeat. I’m saddened to have to share that our dear friends are in the midst of their worlds being turned upside down. Yesica and Moises recently found out their sweet little Yamil was diagnosed with Leukemia. This is a long battle and one we find it difficult to imagine ourselves in, much less a 6 year old.
Yamil has been challenged with having to turn into a superhero overnight. He has been so brave. He has always been someone to light up a room and his energy is so contagious. Those big hazel eyes always shining bright and the biggest smile on his face. Yamil is talented in so many ways. He is an amazing dancer, smart, sweet, considerate and so much fun, but the biggest trait undoubtedly is his heart. Even though he has a life altering diagnosis of leukemia, his spirit still shines bright. He will beat this disease.
His parents, Yesica and Moises and big sister Karely are his biggest supporters, not to mention his grandparents (Rosa, Rafael, Mari and Fede) who have also been so supportive. While Yesica and Moises work full time, they are having to juggle so many things like: each phase of treatment, doctor visits, hospital stays (planned and unplanned), work schedules/pay, maintaining a sense of normalcy and juggling the ever changing restrictions that COVID-19 has placed on families like this both in and out of medical facilities.
It’s been mentally and emotionally draining for this family, but I’m so proud of them for being so strong. They have a long road ahead of them, so I’m reaching out asking you to help this deserving family in any way you can; prayers and any amount you can donate are truly appreciated. The medical bills are already starting to pile up and this is the last thing they should have to worry about. Their focus should be on Yamil and their family. At a moment where you feel helpless, know that your donation means the world to this family. Your support and kindness will be with them forever as well their gratitude.
Thank you,
Jen and Harry Dexter
