My name is Yaonel, and I am reaching out on behalf of my brother, Yaimer Rodriguez Martinez. For the past 10 months, Yaimer has been bravely fighting stage 4 cancer with metastasis. He is currently in intensive care, and our family is doing everything we can to support him through this incredibly difficult time. We have always been a hardworking family, never wanting to ask for help because we know everyone faces their own struggles. However, the financial impact of Yaimer’s illness has become overwhelming. We have taken out loans to cover medical bills and living expenses, but now we are at the edge. The doctors are talking about hospice care, and we are facing the reality of possible funeral expenses that we simply do not know how to cover.

My mom has already stopped working to be with Yaimer 24/7, and my dad and I have both cut our work hours so we can be there for him, which means we are losing even more income. The stress of not knowing how we will manage financially is adding to the pain of watching my brother suffer.
