Support for Xavier

This is Xavier's story!
My name is Jasmine & my partner's name is Mitchell. We want to tell our sons story about living with HLHS (hypoplastic left heart syndrome) which is a form of CHD (congenital heart defect).

We found out about Xavier's condition at the 20 week scan. We were told his left side of his heart has not grown and was severely under developed and once he was born would need multiple life saving surgeries. In order to do this my partner and I had to relocate to Brisbane so that we could get him the best help we could.

On the 5th of May 2020 which also happened to be midwives day I was 39 weeks and due to be induced and that's when the real journey began. On this date we gave birth to our beautiful baby boy who was 9.9 pounds and 56 cm long! At just 6 days old Xavier had his first open heart surgery. He handled it so well! He had his chest closed day 2 post surgery and had his breathing tube out and was out of intensive care 5 days later.

He is now currently in the cardiac ward slowly recovering and has had his chest re opened twice due to a blood clot but both procedures have gone smoothly and he is recovering amazingly well! We still have a long journey ahead of us with 2 more surgeries to go. Every day is hard but to see this little boy fight so hard is worth it! I have not left his side since being moved to the cardiac ward but unfortunately my partner had to go back to work and can only see our little boy on his days off as we can not afford for him to have time off. This is really hard on me and I'm sure it's hard on him having to be away from our baby not knowing the outcome of if he will be ok.

We have set up this gofund me account hoping anyone that can spare any amount of money to help us give my partner some time of work to be here with his son & to ease the financial stress of living expenses such as rent, food, bills and fuel.

Any amount from $1 is very appreciated and we would like to thank anyone who donates, this means so much to us and we really appreciate all the support through this really difficult time more then you will ever know.

If you would like to follow Xavier's Journey and read his full story I have started an Instagram account showing what it's like living with a heart condition day by day to help raise awareness for CHD. You can find the link here.
