Our family is asking for help with the medical and financial stresses for Hannah and Jered Wingfield and their sweet NICU baby, Brooks.
Hannah’s water broke at 21 weeks with no known cause. Her doctor, unoptimistic of the baby's chances of survival, suggested termination. It was then decided that they would do what they could to keep him in until 23 weeks for a higher chance. During those weeks leading up to birth, there were a lot of discussions about his possible quality of life if he was born with certain issues. Despite the alternatives, Brooks Wingfield was born at 1 lb 6 oz with good skin color and in better condition than all the doctors on their case anticipated.
Immediately, Brooks has been faced with battling underdeveloped lungs, a complication with a pneumothorax, and now an infection in his stomach, all resulting in him being transferred to Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas.
Brooks has a very long road ahead and is far from his family. Hannah and Jered work very hard, full-time jobs and will have to figure out living, medical expenses, and travel in two places so that they can be with their son any chance that they get.
With all this said, we would really like to help with these expenses in order to relieve some stress on this new mom and dad and their journey with their precious preemie that they waited for, prayed for, and have longed for.
