WillMike Murray was a gentle soul with a deep, booming voice and a towering presence. At just 34 years old, he had already lived in several cities—growing up in Ohio, attending The Ohio State University, spending time in Chicago, and finally making his home in San Francisco. Despite his height and strong presence, WillMike was known for his kindness, warmth, and the way he made friends wherever he went. He was a unique mix of extroverted and introverted; while he didn’t seek the spotlight, he loved to socialize and always made time for the people in his life. He held strong morals and values, never hesitating to stand up for what he believed in, and he spoke often and fondly of his family, both biological and chosen. Even when friends moved away, he kept those connections close to his heart.

WillMike’s sudden passing has left his family and friends heartbroken. None of his family lives in San Francisco, so his mother, sisters, nephew, cousins, and others are traveling from out of state to honor him. They will be in San Francisco for four nights to celebrate his life, and then will hold a funeral ceremony in Ohio for friends and family back home. The costs of travel, lodging, and organizing two ceremonies are significant, and we want to help ease this burden so they can focus on remembering WillMike and supporting each other.

WillMike was always giving—offering his time, encouragement, and even baked goods to those around him. He learned generosity from his family, and now we have a chance to give back in his honor.
