Bill Hunn was a beloved husband, father of three, and a friend to everyone. Bill was generous and kind, always willing to help when needed. As a dedicated volunteer, he served for many years as a Boy Scout leader, Sea Scout leader, baseball coach and basketball coach. He was a volunteer teacher at a local high school, giving classes in civics, music, and creative writing. For 30 years, he went to Jesse Jones Park every second Sunday to play his guitar and sing for - and with - anyone who showed up, encouraging music appreciation and aspiring musicians. Bill was an asset to his community, serving as Precinct chair of his local political party and as an Election Judge. He supported many charities and causes he believed in, even though he wasn't a man of means. He would say he never had much luck chasing money, but helping others was something he could certainly do. Handy with tools, Bill kept a variety in his truck, just in case he came across someone broken down by the side of the road who needed a helping hand.
Bill was a fierce advocate for his disabled daughter, who has severe spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy and is wheelchair bound. He and his wife, Janet, who were married 41 years, never gave up the extremely challenging job of being parents to a special needs child, while also caring for their other two children and providing for the needs of their family.
Bill had heart bypass surgery in January of 2024, recovered, and was back to work and his normal busy schedule. In May 2025 he had an outpatient procedure which the doctor reported "went well". Five days later he felt ready to return to his job when he suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. His family was taken off guard, completely shocked, and grief stricken.
Bill's passing has created a huge void for his loved ones. His wife lost not only her partner whom she has known since childhood, but also her most important help-mate in caring for their daughter and providing her with a home. Bill's recent surgeries have left the family with enormous medical bills, even with health insurance coverage. There is other significant debt from the estate, and legal fees for probate to be paid. The home repair projects Bill was working on prior to his passing are unfinished; hired help will be needed to complete them. Janet is trying to adjust to the severe reduction in household income, with the same and these additional expenses, while continuing to care for her disabled daughter.
Bill was a very special man who gave so much to others. If you are able, please support Bill's family as they navigate this particularly painful and difficult time by making a donation, so that they may grieve and move forward, without the heavy burden of so many financial concerns. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and be sincerely appreciated. If you wish, sharing this fundraiser with others is another way that could really help.
